about acting

One of Calgary's most highly respected acting coaches, Sharon M. Stone trains, coaches and directs actors. With over thirty years of experience Sharon has been training Actors, Public-Speakers, Techers and consulting on a variety of different productions.



Sharon M. Stone was taught in Jamaica and attended Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, USA where she recived her Bachelor of Arts Degree. 


She also attended different courses in the field of Acting where her skills were further refined under the auspicious tutelage of Harold Baldridge (current director of Neighbourhood Playhouse, NY) at the Banff School of Fine Arts, “Shakespeare For Directors” Drama studies at Edmonton, Alberta taught by Neil Friedman, guest teacher from Stratford, Ontario.​

Advising & preparing actors for auditions & roles in film & TV. Past clients have Performed for the
Kiwanis Music Festival, prepared students for Neighbourhood Playhouse (New York), Lee Strasberg
(New York), Canadian College of Performing Arts (Victoria, BC), Face West (Vancouver, BC), Miss Universe Pageant (Calgary, AB) training for speech acceptance and stage presentation.

Multiple talent agencies - Past topics have focused on auditioning techniques for film and
commercials and film etiquette.

Professional Actress
Performed the role of Deborah Halford in the play “A Touch of the Poet” by Eugene O’Neil
Administrative Assistant to Gary Miller for Theatre Calgary and Theatre Singers
Duties included selling subscriptions, advertising and booking theatre productions.
Assistant to Harold Baldridge during the creation of the musical “Company” written by Stephen Sondheim
Professional Actress In a Rex Devrall’s production for children
As Annie, the teacher in “The Miracle Worker”
As the actress love interest in “The Elephant Man”
As Rose in the play “Death in the Family” Sharon Pollock

Co-owned, managed and taught acting students at The Academy of Music and Drama (Calgary, Alberta) for four years.

Dialogue Coach and Consultant (1992) for the Hollywood blockbuster “Cool Running's” with John Candy, produced by Dawn Steele and Susan Landau Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures.


Directed the play “The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams for the Ready Room Theatre (1996), Commissioned by Coldwater Productions to organize two stage productions by Tennessee Williams -
“Lady of Larkspur Lotion” and “Twenty-Seven Wagons Full of Cotton”
Canadian Casting Agency (1997)
Instructor for acting students.
Taught “Film for Beginners” a 20 hour ACTRA approved course.
Adjudicator for High River High School Drama Festival Determined which participants based on their performances would advanced in the Festival.
 

Currently teaches students the secrets of Theatre arts. Her students give public performances every few months. She also teaches beginner workshops in Film Acting and auditioning and does private coaching for public speaking.
